A couple of new features for Mastodon and the fediverse
A couple of new features have landed in Pagecord today, centred around Mastodon and the Fediverse.
Support for Mastodon social links
When you click the Add Link button in your blog settings, you now have the option of adding a Mastodon account:
If you add a valid Mastodon link, you'll notice that Mastodon will now verify your Pagecord blog to prove that you own it. Handy!
Fediverse Author Attribution
Mastodon wrote a detailed blog post about author attribution last year and it's pretty neat. This is now supported by Pagecord.
In your blog settings you'll see a new field, Fediverse Author Attribution:
If you add a value in this field (e.g. @[email protected]), then all the posts on your blog will contain a (hidden) meta tag that Mastodon (and presumably other Fediverse accounts) will use to attribute you when people share a link to the post.
To get this to work, you'll need to go into your settings in Mastodon and add "pagecord.com" to the list of websites that are allowed to credit you:
Once you've done this, whenever an article from your Pagecord blog is posted on Mastodon, you will be attributed below the post as this example shows:
