Email your posts to subscribers, one at a time

Until now, email subscribers receive a weekly digest every Tuesday morning. It's a fully automated roundup of all the posts you published that week, and since it's only one email at most per week, it means people look forward to it as opposed to dreading yet another email!

This approach works well for frequent writers with multiple posts a week, but if you post less often your readers can wait several days before getting an email, depending on the day you published it.

To address this, Pagecord now has a second email option: individual email delivery. You can switch your blog to "individual" email mode and you decide exactly which posts to send, and when to send them. No schedule, no batching – just open a post in the editor, click "Send to subscribers", and it lands in their inbox moments later.

How to change to individual mode

Head to Settings → Audience and you'll see two delivery modes beneath the email subscriptions checkbox:

  • Weekly Digest (the default) – subscribers receive a roundup of your latest posts every Tuesday morning, just like before.
  • Individual – you choose which posts to send, one at a time, whenever you like.

When you're in individual mode, published posts show a banner in the editor with a "Send to subscribers" button and your current subscriber count.

After you send, the banner updates to show when it was delivered and to how many people.

Posts you send individually won't appear in a future weekly digest if you switch back to that system, so subscribers should never receive the same post twice.

Differences between an individual email and a digest email

An individual email and a digest email have the same formatting, but individually sent emails use the post title as the email subject – or "New post from <your blog title>" if the post has no title. Digests always have the title "New posts from <your blog title>".

Switching between modes

You can change your delivery mode at any time. If you switch from individual back to weekly digest, the next Tuesday digest will pick up any posts that haven't been sent yet. Posts you already sent individually are always excluded.

Everything else stays the same

Subscriber sign-up, confirmation and unsubscribing all works exactly as before. The subscription form copy adjusts so your readers know what to expect.

Hopefully some of you will find this option useful and more aligned with how you want to communicate with your readers.
